Teachers earn our respect every day

AL LATOSZ

St. Clair County’s 1,200 public school teachers do high-quality work every day educating the county’s 23,000 students from kindergarten through grade 12. As their superintendents, we know first-hand the integrity and dedication they bring to their jobs every day.

It’s challenging but rewarding work, too often misunderstood or even dismissed by people who aren’t in our buildings or our classrooms regularly.

We all know that it’s important for students and teachers to routinely be in our classrooms. Our local school districts are dedicated to bringing the best possible educational opportunities to our children. That’s why teacher training, commonly called professional development, also occurs. Having teachers occasionally miss a day of teaching for training that will make them better teachers is a tradeoff well worth making.

We are proud of our teachers. We know they have a positive impact on our children every day. They earn our respect every day.
