Police identify man found in St. Clair River

Police have identified James Edward Barton as the man who was found dead in the St. Clair River July 16.

Marysville Public Safety Deputy Chief Ron Buckmaster said the 48-year-old Port Huron man’s death is not believed to be suspicious at this time.

Barton’s body was recovered from the St. Clair River about 2:45 p.m. near the 1300 block of River Road in Marysville after a neighbor reported seeing a body.

Buckmaster said police continue to interview people who saw Barton prior to his death.

Buckmaster said the last known date Barton was alive was July 9.
