4 dogs dead in weekend fire

Times Herald
Two people were arrested after a crack cocaine investigation.

Four dogs died in a house fire in Fort Gratiot Saturday morning.

Fort Gratiot Fire Chief Patrick Smith said rescue crews were called to 3517 Dykeman Road shortly before 5 a.m.

Smith said flames were visible when firefighters arrived on scene.

Residents inside the home were able to evacuate without injury, but four dogs died in the fire, Smith said.

The fire was contained to a back bedroom of the home. Smith said the blaze caused extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the structure.

Units from the Port Huron and Burtchville Township fire departments assisted at the scene.
