Casco Twp. man found dead, home damaged in fire

A 72-year-old Casco Township man was found dead this morning after police believe his home caught fire.

Herbert Robinson was discovered about 9:30 a.m. inside his home in the 5300 block of Bart Drive in Americana Estates Mobile Home Park, according to a statement from the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.

Robinson was found by his son. He had last been seen about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. There were signs a fire had started in the home’s living room before extinguishing, resulting in smoke damage throughout the home.

The fire was out at the time of the son’s arrival as well as rescue crews, according to the statement.

The fire was determined to be “accidental in nature.”
